DEPUTY COMMERCIAL MANAGER (JV Liaison)

  • Coordinate the JV planning process, ensuring timely delivery of the asset’s annual and 5-year budget and work program in conjunction with the finance team.
  • Monitor and report on the execution of the work program and business plan, ensuring that objectives are met, and provide monthly updates on performance, proposing optimisation strategies.
  • Coordinate governance and business meetings at the JV level, showcasing leadership in strategizing and operational discussions and fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Support the Chief Operating Officer of the AMT in upholding the highest standards of governance as stipulated in the Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) that governs the AMT operations and overseeing the smooth functioning of the governance frameworks in place
  • Ensure the availability of documents to support crude evacuation, lifting, and payment processing while maintaining an uninterrupted lifting process in line with the crude lifting procedures.
  • Liaise and maintain interface on regulatory and commercial matters, including JV reconciliation meetings with counterparties and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake robust decision analysis on a comprehensive set of economic scenarios or project realisations and transforming the results into a clear set of recommendations, with identified trade-offs
  • Actively seek value creation opportunities from both current portfolio and potential future opportunities in Nigeria
  • Coordinate project framing and maturation sessions, guiding projects seamlessly from inception to realization, while ensuring alignment with overarching business strategies of COMPANY and maintaining a keen focus on profitability and commercial viability.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 8 – 12 years of experience, including at least 7 with an operator (should possess depth in own discipline and breadth across other disciplines, including economics/commercial/financial modelling at both project and enterprise levels
  • Experience in the upstream oil/gas sector with demonstrable economics, negotiations, commercial and overall business expertise
  • Experience with gas commercialization, ideally in emerging market.
  • Must have a detailed understanding of and experience in conducting economic analysis.
  • Experience with risk management assessments.
  • Experience screening and evaluating commercial opportunities based on limited inputs and analogues and delivering acquisition and divestment economic support across a variety of deal structures.
  • Track record of creating value by entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to close high value transactions
  • Expertise with upstream oil and gas contracts.
  • Good understanding of, and experience across, the E&P lifecycle, especially appraisal to production.
  • In-depth knowledge of upstream economic value drivers and analysis.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Knowledge of hydrocarbon reserves and resource definitions and supporting economic analysis
  • Experience in field development planning
  • Good understanding of finance and financial metrics
  • Strong report-writing and presentation skills
  • Driven, goal-oriented, independent thinker, problem solver and strong team player with the ability to build necessary alliances and relationships upwards and downwards in the COMPANY organization and build/deploy strong external networks to benefit COMPANY’s business.
